I enjoy integrating techniques from different healing modalities to best suit the needs and goals of my client. My modalities include:
Swedish massage is the most common and widely practiced massage modality. The primary goals include muscle relaxation, stress reduction and improved circulation. This style of massage targets the superficial muscles and improves the flow of blood and lymph towards the heart. This allows for detoxification and improved immunity.
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Deep, focused pressure is used to break down muscle knots and adhesions. This type of massage is beneficial for treating chronic muscle tension and contracted areas, such as lower back pain or a stiff neck.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger point massage therapy is used to identify and release trigger points within the muscle tissue. A trigger point is a small, constricted area in the muscle that can cause a twitch response or referred pain to another part of the body. Isolated pressure is used to help alleviate pain and muscle tension.
Shiatsu massage is an ancient healing art that is based on traditional Chinese medicine. Shiatsu translated means “finger pressure.” Pressure is placed using thumbs or palms on acupressure points along the 12 meridians of the body in order to open up blockages. Each meridian is associated with a specific organ of the body.
Reflexology is a therapeutic massage that is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect a full map of the body on the feet and hands. Pressure is applied to reflexology points in order to release energy blockages in various parts of the body that are reflected in the hands and feet. Promotes relaxation and harmonizes the body.
Reiki is a form of energy healing that uses spiritually guided life force energy to clear out blockages in the energy field, or aura. Life force energy flows throughout the physical body through channels that converge in 7 main energy centers, known as chakras. Reiki is one method that can be used to balance and restore the chakras.
Individual or small group lessons allow students to focus on personal concerns and goals rather than following along in a larger class setting where they don’t receive individual adjustments in every posture. This can help prevent injuries that occur from being unknowingly misaligned. Yoga improves strength and flexibility and reduces stress.
